Health Benefits of Kayaking and Paddleboarding

With the great summer weather and the largest fresh water lake on your doorstep, why not venture into some water activities to reach your weekly exercise goal. Examples; kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddleboarding (SUP)

What are the benefits of activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding?

Improves upper body strength:

-builds muscular strength and endurance

-targets muscle groups of the shoulders, arms, and back

-isometrically works the lower extremities

-improves lower extremity strength and stability

Improves core stability and balance:

-maintaining an upright posture on an unstable surface

-bracing and maintaining trunk stability whilst paddling against resistance

Research has also shown the benefits of exercising in nature, with both aiding in our emotional and mental health. Some of the benefits are:

This low impact form of activity helps build strength in several major muscles groups whilst improving balance and positively impacting mental health.
